In mid 2009, Richard Swansborough will be leading a dive team to Papua New Guinea in search of the AE-1.
In 1914, whilst on routine patrol off the coast of Papua New Guinea, Australia's first submarine the AE-1 disappeared without trace.
The fate of the submarine and her 35 crew have remained a mystery for 90 years but that is about to change.
An accidental discovery has found that the AE1 was not lost at sea…..
but is in fact lying at a depth of some seventy metres inside Rabaul Harbour
